HURT Foundation is an independent, non-partisan, non-governmental organization committed to the practical realization of human rights. Founded in 1992 by a group of dedicated advocates from the Bombay High Court, our work began with a simple yet powerful purpose — to stand for human dignity and justice.
Born a year before India enacted the Protection of Human Rights Act (1993), HURT Foundation emerged from a deep concern for growing human rights violations in our country and beyond. From the very beginning, we have focused on creating awareness among public officials, professionals, students, and citizens — because lasting change starts with informed minds.
Through human rights courses, workshops, training programs, field-action initiatives, and advocacy efforts, we work to build a just social, economic, and political order. Our programs encourage respect for the Constitution of India, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and other international human rights frameworks, helping shape a society rooted in equality, dignity, and responsibility.
