A Commitment towards a Just Society
Human rights are the basic rights and freedoms that belong to every person in the world, from birth until death. They apply regardless of where you are from, what you believe, or how you choose to live your life. Human rights are about being treated with dignity and respect.
This course will provide you with an introduction to human rights. You will learn about the history of human rights, the different types of human rights, and the mechanisms for protecting human rights. You will also learn about some of the most pressing human rights issues facing the world today.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Define human rights and explain their importance
- Identify the different types of human rights
- Describe the mechanisms for protecting human rights
- Analyze some of the most pressing human rights issues facing the world today
- Engage in discussions about human rights and advocate for the protection of human rights
Evaluation
Participants will have to submit assignments on time and score the pass percentage to be eligible for the Certificate. Non-submission or failing to score minimum marks will be treated as a non-fulfillment of the basic requirements for the course.
In order to qualify for the Certificate, a candidate must obtain a minimum 45% of marks in all the components of evaluation as well as have an attendance of 75%. Plagiarism of any kind will be considered as non-submission and lead to non-fulfillment of the basic requirements for the course.
Eligibility: Graduation in any discipline.
Duration: The duration of the course is 3 months.
Assignments and Evaluation:
Assignment 1: Participants will be required to choose a topic from the list of core issues of Human Rights and write an essay. (1500 words – 100 marks)
Assignment 2: Participants will have to choose the topic from the list of current issues and will have to submit it for critical evaluation. (2000 words – 100 marks)
Field Visit: Participants will be required to visit organizations involved in Human Rights issues and present an Assessment Report of the Visits. (800 words-50 marks )
