Music, Poetry & Purpose — Cultural Evenings That Changed Lives

HURT Foundation’s cultural calendar has always aimed for one simple outcome: transform attention into action. Our “Music, Poetry & Purpose” evenings bring together ghazal nights, Sufi soirees, and Hasya Kavi Sammelans — formats that entertain while creating openings for conversation about human dignity, education, and rehabilitation.

Hasya Kavi Sammelans — comic-poetry gatherings led by stalwarts such as Surender Sharma — offer a lighthearted platform to discuss heavier civic themes. Sharma, a Padma Shri recipient, is known for his wit and keen social observation; events featuring his poetry have attracted diverse crowds who leave entertained yet reflective, a perfect moment to introduce charitable initiatives or volunteer drives.

Our collaboration with Children’s Aid Society and corporate partners to revive the Mankhurd I.T.I. is an example of how cultural traction converts into concrete programs. Concert audiences and patrons have supported skill-training, healthcare camps, and vocational initiatives that directly impact institutionalized youth. The emotional connection forged during concerts often turns listeners into donors, mentors, or advocates — and that sustained engagement is what creates systemic change.

Music and poetry offer a non-threatening entry-point for civic dialogue: they disarm, they humanize, and they make people more likely to listen. HURT Foundation continues to use cultural evenings strategically — as fundraisers, awareness platforms, and community builders. When art meets purpose, audiences don’t just applaud — they act. That is the legacy our artist collaborations have helped build, and it’s a legacy we continue to steward with gratitude and care.
