Our Work

Work with Children’s Aid Society

HURT Foundation started working with Children’s Aid Society almost a decade back.  It was the concern for the children that brought in Hurt Foundation to assist CAS to improve the conditions of the physical environment, look after the deplorable health conditions of the children and enable them to learn a trade to become economically self-reliant.

Hurt Foundation taken up Skill Development as the thrust area as it was seen that rehabilitation of children was one of the most neglected aspect of JJ Act as a result  the children have got back to society as adults without any skill essential for survival.  Hurt Foundation conducted a skill development programme at the David Sassoon Industrial School, an institution under CAS.  It consisted of a Foundation Course with an aptitude screening tool for hundred children aged above 15 years in the streams of : Electrical (wireman), Carpentry, Welding, Fitter and Plumbing.  This initiative helped identify skills aptitude for inmates and based on their aptitude the children were in a better position to choose particular skill training after the completion of the foundation course.

The success of the programme lead to many discussions with Children’s Aid Society who evinced keen interest in restarting the Industrial Training Institute, Mankhurd.  We are happy to share that the ITI has been revived 2016.  The CSR wing of Stock Holding Corporation of India Ltd. support to run the ITI has opened up job opportunities for institutionalized and marginalized children.

Partnership with StockHolding Corporation India Limited

Stock Holding Corporation India Limited is committed to the cause of Skill Building and has played a crucial role to restart the ITI at Mankhurd (run by Children Aids Society).  5 years ago the ITI had to close down due to paucity of funds.  We at Hurt Foundation, while assisting CAS, found out about this & then approached SHCIL for support.  They generously partnered with us and we are proud to say that we opened the doors of the refurbished ITI in September with the latest equipment and course material.
We are committed to provide the best for them & expand the ITI.
